I truly can’t believe that 2016 is almost coming to a close. I can’t believe that another year is almost over. Where did the year go to? It feels like the older I get, the faster and faster time flies by me. Sometimes, I think its because I am getting SO OLD (hahaha) but I prefer to think its because I am loving what I am doing so much, that every day zips by. How does the saying go? Time flies when your having fun?
2016 was truly a wedding year for the books, and I didn’t want to “jinx” myself and say it, but now its officially safe to say, for the first time in my wedding photography career, we didn’t get rained out once! And that, my friends, for a wedding photographer is PRETTY awesome! It was hot, I mean, really really hot some days, but it didn’t rain and heat we can handle.
Our last wedding of 2016 was at the very end of October with two very special people. I met Ashleigh and Joe earlier in the year and felt an almost instant click with them. They were fun, easy going and loved to laugh. I felt truly respected as a professional by them, and from our first meeting, I couldn’t wait for their wedding at White Oakes Resort.
Their day began with unseasonably warm weather, which was simply perfect for the outdoor garden ceremony which was planned. I began my morning with the very handsome Joe who was suiting up his custom made Harry Rosen. We enjoyed a few detail images and a few laughs and then it was off to see the ladies upstairs in the bridal suite.
Ashleigh was in preparation of getting her hair and makeup completed. To say that she looked breathtaking, would be putting it mildly. Ashleigh’s unique and somewhat untraditional wedding style shone through with her hair sparkling grey, and her pastel blue and grey Madison James wedding gown.
An intimate and tearful ceremony took place officiated by the most lovely Cathy Davis and Co. Including the very special highlight sand ceremony which blended the family of Joe and his daughters with Ashleigh.
Immediately following the ceremony, we captured family and formal images. Following formal imagery, it was cocktails and a whole lot of fun in the reception hall of White Oakes.
With Patryk of Liquid Entertainment as the weddings MC, the wedding reception was a HIT from start to finish! Guests were instructed in order to have the bride and groom kiss, they must lip sync a song! What a hoot, this challenge turned into, so much entertainment, dancing and lip-syncing all dinner hour long! Finally, in lieu of a bouquet toss, Ashleigh did a teddy bear toss instead. She actually threw mini teddy bears onto the dance floor, each child got to keep two… how lucky were they?
Thank you, Ashleigh and Joe, from the very bottom of my heart. It was a true pleasure getting to know you and sharing the past year with you. I wish you many many more years of love and happiness together and may all the fish on your fishing trips be “THIS BIG!”
