It feels as if I sit and wait and wait for forever for wedding season to begin each year, and then suddenly, in a blink of an eye, its begun and in full swing. I’m not really sure how time manages to fly by so quickly or why it seems to be in such a hurry, but it really does, and with each passing day… the faster life gets. It feels like it was only yesterday Katie, Garrett and Katie’s dad were interviewing me on their back porch on a hot and humid summer day and now, almost 365 days later, I found myself again standing on the same back porch watching Katie’s dad hang her dress from the tree, preparing it for some whimsical images.
Katie and Garrett are high school sweet hearts, this is a marriage 9 years in the making. Everyone knew it was going to happen, from way back in the days when the couple used to hang out in the cafeteria playing cards with their friends, this was one couple that was destined to be together.
Raised in Port Dalhousie, much of the wedding day festivities took place show casing some of Katie’s most favourite and cherished childhood locations. The church ceremony was at the Star of the Sea Catholic Church with formal images to follow at the Carousel in Old Port Dalhousie.
A rustic camping theme with campfire candles and burlap goodie bags of chocolate showcased the couples love of outdoors and bon fires at Club Capri Thorold. Cherished moments included speeches from both the bride and grooms parents as well as a romantic love song sang to the couple in dutch.
Thank you Katie and Garrett so much for sharing your day with me, whenever I think of Port Dalhousie, I will always think of you two…. and smile.
